Partly-printed DS, one page, 5 x 3, April 30, 1892. Financial order from Stevenson's Vailima estate in Samoa, directing his business agent H. J. Moors to "Please deliver to bearer Nine Shillings Sterling,” signed at the conclusion, "Robert Louis Stevenson." Fixed with same size cardstock mount and in very good to fine condition, with edge tears and a small area of paper loss, none of which affects the signature. Dated just months before the publication of A Footnote to History: Eight Years of Trouble in Samoa, Stevenson's influential account of colonial intervention and civil conflict in the islands, this signed financial order reflects the day-to-day administration of his Vailima household during one of the most consequential periods of his life in the South Pacific.
