Description

Emperor of Russia from 1801 to 1825, whose greatest triumph came in 1812 when Napoleon's invasion of Russia proved to be a catastrophic disaster for the French. Partly-printed vellum DS in Russian, one page, 15 x 9.25, September 11, 1811. Untranslated military promotion, prominently signed at the conclusion in ink by Alexander I. The large white paper seal affixed at the lower right remains intact. In fine condition.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
