Description

Manuscript DS, signed “Victoria R ,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7.75 x 13, April 30, 1859. Warrant for "reworking a portion of a warrant empowering the Commander in Chief of the Forces in India to invest certain officers herein named," regarding the "Investiture of Our trusty and well beloved Major General Sydney John Cotton, Major General William Rose Mansfield and Colonel Thomas Seaton with the Insignia of their dignity as Knights Commanders of Our said Most Honorable Order of the Bath." Neatly signed at the head in ink by Queen Victoria and countersigned at the conclusion by her husband, Prince Albert, as "Great Master." The embossed white paper seal affixed in the left margin remains intact. In fine condition.
