TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, October 1, 1959. Addressed from “La Quinta,” a letter marked “Personal” and sent to philanthropist and businessman Alex Pilibos, in full: “Thank you very much indeed for the two cases of fine cantaloupe that have been delivered to me here in La Quinta. I know they will be greatly enjoyed by all of us who are here seeking a few days of rest and relaxation in the wonderful climate of Southern California.” In fine condition, with light blocks of irregular toning. Pilibos (1888-1966) was a prominent philanthropist, businessman, large-scale melon grower, and founder of the Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School. He was believed to be one of the largest cantaloupe producers in California.
