Description

Polish pianist, composer, and politician (1860–1941) whose abounding talent and personal magnetism made him one of the most popular virtuosi of all time. Vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 9.5 Hartsook Studio portrait photo of Paderewski in a powerful half-length pose, affixed to the original 8.75 x 13.25 mount, which is signed in fountain pen, "I. J. Paderewski.” The mount reverse is annotated, “Bought at the concert and address delivered Paderewski for the benefit of Starving Poland, November 1915.” In very good to fine condition, with speckled silvering to the image, and creasing and corner loss to the trimmed mount.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
