Flown Sony HF90 cassette tape carried on the Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-55 by Mission Specialist 1 Jerry L. Ross, 4˝ x 2.5˝, with his handwritten labels: "Ross #5, Side 1, STS-55, Association, K. Rogers, Carpenters" and "Ross #5, Side 2, STS-55, Carpenters, N. Diamond." In fine condition.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Jerry L. Ross, in full: "The accompanying music tape labeled Ross #5, STS-55, with the blue dot is Colonel Jerry Ross's personal music tape and comes from his personal collection. Colonel Ross made the tape before the mission by selecting his favorite music and recording it on the tape. The music tape was flown aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during the STS-55 mission. Colonel Ross listened to the tape during his off-duty time on orbit and during his sleep periods. Colonel Ross was the Payload Commander on this mission and he led a team of crewmates that conducted 88 experiments during their 10-day mission. Columbia launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on April 26, 1993, and landed at Edwards Air Force Base, California on May 6, 1993. Columbia completed 160 orbits of the Earth in 239 hours and 45 minutes, traveling 4.2 million miles." Also includes an official color 8 x 10 NASA lithograph of Ross in his EVA suit, signed in black felt tip.
