Description

"A family of Trumans came over with Lord Baltimore in 1634, when the settlement was made in Maryland, but I have never been able to establish a connection"

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, March 15, 1955. Letter to Elmer Francis Ruark, in part: "For your information, a family of Trumans came over with Lord Baltimore in 1634, when the settlement was made in Maryland, but I have never been able to establish a connection as my early relatives came from South Carolina and Virginia to Tennessee and then to Kentucky although there may be some connection. I am glad to hear that you married a Missouri girl. They are all mighty fine girls. I am also happy to know that you were a member of that old Baptist Church, which I have been in when I was in Wilmington." Affixed to a slightly larger mount and in very good to fine condition, with a ripple across the lower blank area from being mounted. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
