Description

Modernist writer (1903–1977) whose sexually explicit journals and correspondence with Henry Miller led to her popular resurgence in the 1970s as a feminist icon and a literary figure of the avant-garde. ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, illustrated letterhead, September 7, 1976. Handwritten letter to a woman in France, in part: "I do hope you can read English because my French is imperfect in writing…I understand what you seek. And I understand why it took so many years for people to understand me. I imagine it more difficult in painting. Mine came naturally. Maricand the astrologer attributed that to Neptunians, a special race born in Atlantis! Your feelings and vision are very close to mine. I regret that illness will prevent me from taking my usual trip to France. I have been fighting cancer for two years. I am recovering very slowly but I was able to finish Vol. 6… I work on Vol. 7 very slowly." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Nin's own hand.
