Vintage ‘A Reader’s Digest Reprint’ booklet featuring a condensed version of John Hersey’s article, ‘Survival,’ which recounts the heroic actions of Lieutenant John F. Kennedy and his crew after their PT boat, the PT-109, was sunk by a Japanese destroyer during World War II. The booklet, measuring 16 x 7.25 open, is signed on the first page in ballpoint by Kennedy. This booklet was printed by “West Virginians for Kennedy” in the lead-up to the West Virginia Democratic primary election on May 20, 1960, which resulted in a crushing victory for Kennedy over Hubert Humphrey, who withdrew from the race soon thereafter. Cloth-matted and framed with an engraved portrait of JFK to an overall size of 29 x 15.75; window to the frame backing shows opposite pages of the booklet. In fine condition.
