Gavel constructed of wood removed from the White House during the Truman administration's renovations in 1950, measuring 11˝ long with a cylindrical 3.5˝ x 2.25˝ head, with an inlaid metal plaque featuring a raised presidential seal in the center, reading: "Original White House Material Removed in 1950." The handle is annotated, “Ray J. Madden, M.C.,” who was a United States representative from Indiana from 1943 to 1977. In fine condition, with scattered wear, such as scuffs and nicks.
