Uncommon ALS signed "Jerry Ford," one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 15, 1983. Handwritten letter of condolence to a former House colleague on the passing of his wife. In part: "Betty and I learned of Essie's passing the day of her funeral. We were deeply saddened and wish to extend to you and the Family our condolences in this time of sorrow…As I write this sad note I think of those great days when you were a leader in the House. All members on both sides of the House had tremendous admiration and affection for you. I will always be indebted to you for your many kindnesses during my years in the House and especially while I was President." In fine condition, with some mild edge toning from old masking tape remnants on the back edges.
