Historic color satin-finish 9.5 x 7.5 photo of Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Mikhail Gorbachev meeting on Governors Island, NY, in December 1988, with the Statue of Liberty in the background, signed in the lower border in black felt tip by all three. Handsomely matted and framed to an overall size of 14.5 x 12.5. In very fine condition.
This historic photo-op symbolized the end of the Cold War and new U.S.-Soviet relations. This meeting, which occurred shortly after Gorbachev's UN address proposing massive nuclear cuts, solidified thawing relations as the decade closed, with the Reagan administration welcoming the Soviet initiatives shortly before Bush's inauguration.
