Description

LS in French, signed "Lafayette," one page, 7.25 x 9, March 22, 1833. Letter to Dominique Jerome, a veteran of the French Revolution. In part (translated): "The two commissions to which I belonged were dissolved some time ago, Sir, but according to the law, as amended by the Upper House, the door has again been opened to the claims of the Victors of the Bastille. The claims will be judged by a section of the Council of State. I have therefore sent your request to the Minister of the Interior and pointed out to him that your rights could be easily recognized if they are judged valid. The amount of money for the pensions has been fixed, but the advanced age of the pensioners leave vacancies that one could take advantage of by including those who, despite their rights, applied too late." Addressed on the integral leaf in another hand. In fine condition.
