Description

Sought-after pairing of original Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man arcade video games manufactured by Bally Midway in the early 1980s. Both are housed in their original 'cabaret' cabinets with faux woodgrain side panels, measuring 20? x 58.5? x 30? (Pac-Man) and 19.5? x 60.25? x 24? (Ms. Pac-Man), and feature iconic color patterns and graphics to the screen, marquee, lower front panel, and control plate, which feature two player “Start” buttons and directional arrows around the joystick. Both screens also feature instructions and monster point values. An internal PCB to Pac-Man bears an affixed Bally label numbered “000328,” and the back of the cabinet is engraved 5465” above a plate that reads: “Engineered by Namco, Ltd., Manufactured by Midway Mfg. Co., A Bally Company.” The interior of the Ms. Pac-Man cabinet bears a cabinet tag marked “Regular” and numbered “0124.” Both cabinets are in fine condition, with light scattered marks, scuffs, and scratches; the Pac-Man control plate features wear to the edges and corners; and the upper edge of the Ms. Pac-Man marquee bears a small crack.

Released in 1980, Pac-Man introduced a new kind of gameplay. At a time when most arcade hits like Space Invaders and Asteroids focused on shooting, Pac-Man offered nonviolent maze-chasing. Players guided the yellow character through a maze, eating dots and avoiding ghosts — Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Its simplicity, charm, and accessibility appealed to audiences that earlier games hadn’t reached, especially women and families.

Together, Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man became more than just hit arcade titles — they were cultural phenomena. They proved that video games could have mascots, mass-market appeal, and emotional connection. Their clean design and enduring appeal still resonate today — decades later, those ghosts are still chasing across screens worldwide.
