Stunning original vintage semi-glossy 10.25 x 13.25 silver gelatin close-up photo of the glamorous Marilyn Monroe, an image ostensibly taken by Frank Powolny circa 1952-1953. The portrait pictures the actress staring directly into the camera, her chin resting on layered hands, her ears and wrists adorned with diamond-decked jewelry. The reverse bears various editorial notations and stamps, one of which reads, “Used in People, 1987, Spring, Page 100,” and another indicates that the photograph derives from the collection of George Zeno, a fashion illustrator who co-authored the book Monroe: Her Life in Pictures with James Spada, a pictorial biography of Marilyn Monroe. Zeno is also a leading authority on Monroe, known for having one of the largest private collections of her memorabilia and for being the subject of a Life magazine profile about his expertise. The reverse also bears two affixed ‘Time, Inc. Pic. Collection’ labels. In fine condition, with a small crease next to her left eye. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA, certifying it as an authentic "Type I" photograph.
The Marc and Mary Perkins Collection.
