ANS, one page, 5 x 3, February 3, 1992. Handwritten note to the "Kerouac Family & Sampas Family," in full: "I got this note in Italy and am sending it on to you. Good luck with the publication of further MSS by Jack." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Ginsberg's own hand to "John Sampas, re: Kerouac Estate," and signed as part of the return address, "Allen Ginsberg." Also includes the copy of the letter referenced, sent to Ginsberg by "Dottor Giorgio Villosio," explaining: "We have composed a blues opera, setting to music some lyrics of Jack Kerouac. As you know, he wrote the collection 'Mexico City Blues' intending to get it set to music. And that is just what we have done. Since you made experiments with many musicians and you have always been to spokesman of the bear generation all over the world, we would like to present you with the work of our musicians, in order to a possible spreading through you (also to know nay problem with copyrights)."
Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by John Shen-Sampas, the executor of the estate of Jack Kerouac; Shen-Sampas is the son of John Sampas, who was Kerouac’s brother-in-law and literary executor.
