Associate justice of the US Supreme Court (1856–1941) from 1916 to 1939, who was the first Jewish justice to serve on the nation's highest bench. Early LS signed “Warren & Brandeis,” one page, 5.5 x 9.5, Warren & Brandeis law firm letterhead, January 25, 1882. Letter to W. L. Putnam Esq., in part: "We have just sent to Mr. Davis, Clk. of Circuit Court, our amendments to the bill in the above cause. The amendments were allowed by Judge Lowell today under the 29th Equity rule...The consolidated company not having appeared a new subpoena would perhaps be necessary to bring it in on the amendments." Signed at the conclusion by Brandeis on behalf of his firm. In fine condition.
