Description

Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “James Monroe” as president and “John Quincy Adams” as secretary of state, one page, 11 x 15, December 22, 1821. Scalloped-top ship's pass issued to the "Brig Vigilant of New York, Phineas Stewart master of commander…mounted with no guns, navigated with eight men, To Pass with her Company Passengers Goods and Merchandize without any hinderance seisure or molestation." Signed at the conclusion by President Monroe and Secretary of State Adams. The lower left retains the original paper seal. In fine condition.
