AQS from Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., on an off-white 6 x 4.75 sheet, signed at the bottom in black ink, “Oliver Wendell Holmes, Boston, Oct. 28, 1885,” who above writes four lines from his 1861 poem ‘Union and Liberty,’ in full: “Lord of the Universe! shield us and guide us, / Trusting Thee always, through shadow and sun! / Thou hast united us, – who shall divide us? / Keep us, O keep us the Many in One!” In fine condition, with a light crease to the lower left corner, and a light central vertical fold.
