Description

Partly-printed DS, signed “George R,” one page, 9.5 x 14.75, October 25, 1806. King George III grants a trading license to "John Lubbock and Co. and other British Merchants" on board two neutral vessels ("the names of which they are unable to set forth"), permitting them "to import two cargoes without molestation from Cadiz," and continuing to list their cargoes as including "Sarsaparilla, Tallow, Copper, Balsams… Spanish wool, Indigo, Hides, Skins…Liquorice Juice, Seeds, Saffron, Silk…Almonds, Castile Soap, Raw Materials, Oak Bark….Black Lead….Vinegar and Brandy." Signed at the head in ink by King George III, and countersigned at the conclusion by Home Secretary George Spencer. The white paper seal affixed in the left margin remains intact. In very good to fine condition, with light creasing, toning, and a few small tears to the rough right edge.
