Handwritten letter to award-winning lyricist and librettist Alan Jay Lerner, in full: “The loving and thoughtful taped message you sent for the Harvard ‘Hasty Pudding’ – Hollywood style – moved me so deeply that I thought I was going to become a weeping idiot right there on the stage. Your voice evoked so many memories. For a few seconds the years just rolled away and I was back in New York with you & Fritz and Ross. It truly was a wonderful feeling – and I thank you so much for taking the time to send the message & for making me feel so good. I hear that you have had an eye operation – & I pray that all is well with you now and that you’re in good health. I love you and hope to see you soon.” In fine condition, with a short tear to the top edge of the second page. Julie Andrews was honored as Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatricals Woman of the Year in 1983. The award was presented on February 16, 1983, at a ceremony where she was given a costume worn by the club's president. She later participated in a parade through Harvard Square.
