Grouping of seven Apple Computer, Inc. annual reports for 1986, 1987, and 1988, deriving from the personal collection of Ron Fernandez, a former member of Apple’s Creative Services department and senior MacOS product manager for printing, type, and graphics. The lot includes one 48-page annual report for 1986, two 58-page annual reports for 1987, and four 44-page annual reports for 1988. One of the 1987 reports includes its original mailing envelope with a sealed ‘1987 HyperCard Supplement’ and printed message from CEO John Sculley. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by an award certificate from the Annual Report Conference (ARC Awards), which presents “Apple Computer, Inc.” with the 1988 Grand Winner award for “outstanding achievement in annual reports…For: 1987 Computer Disk Annual Report.”
The HyperCard annual report is something of a digital publishing benchmark. Although a number of HyperCard stacks were developed in the months after the app was released, it’s widely believed that the Apple HyperCard marked the first commercial use of interactive digital media.
