ALS in Yiddish, one page both sides, 8.25 x 10.5, August 23, 1974. Handwritten letter to David Giladi, a Jewish art dealer and a collector of Chagall's work, in full (translated): "I have received your books and I would like to tell you that the subtle hints in them are not to my liking and do not suit me. And when I think about the text, I must ask you not to print them in the form of a book. Several books were published recently by Dr. Hauptman from Köln, and I think that's enough. I will ask you not to print the book. I'm not at my best, and I would ask you to postpone the printing of the book. I hope you understand me. I recently wrote to you about the text. You can print it, if you like, in a Journal, but I object to print it as a book." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Chagall's own hand and adding his surname, "Chagall," in the return address on the flap.
