Signed book: Memoirs by Harry S. Truman, Vol. I: Year of Decisions. First edition. NY: Doubleday & Company, 1955. Hardcover with dust jacket, 6 x 8.5, 596 pages. Signed and inscribed on the dedication page in fountain pen, "To Colonel Williams, the best pilot I ever flew with, and a fine gentleman, with kindest regards from his former C in C, Harry S. Truman, Independence, Nov. 17, 1955." In very good to fine condition, with a gift inscription to "Francis & Irene" penned in another hand on the first free end page, partial separation to the front inner hinge, and staining, soiling, and tears to the dust jacket. Col. Francis W. Williams served as pilot of the presidential airplanes the Sacred Cow and the Independence during President Truman's administration, 1948-1953.
