Unsigned handwritten lyrics by Jerry Garcia, one page, 8 x 12.5, no date. Garcia pens the lyrics to 'The Maker,' a song by Daniel Lanois that was regularly played in concert by the Jerry Garcia Band from 1992 to 1995. Garcia writes, in full:
"Oh deep water
Black and cold like the nite
I stand with arms wide open
I've run a twisted line
I'm a stranger, in the eyes of the Maker
I could not see for the fog in my eyes
I could not feel for the fear in my life
And from across the great divide
In the distance I saw light
Jean Baptiste walking to me, with the Maker
My body is bent & broken
By long & dangerous sleep
I can't work the fields of abraham
And turn my head away
I'm not a stranger in the hands of the Maker
Brother John, have you seen the homeless daughters
Standing there with broken wings
I have seen the flaming swords there over east of Eden
Burning in the eyes of the Maker 3 X
Oh river rise, through your sleep."
Handsomely double-matted and framed with a concert flyer for the Grateful Dead at the Philadelphia Civic Center to an overall size of 25.25 x 20.25. In fine condition, with light folds and creases.
