Union general (1831-1888) whose cavalry command blocked Lee's escape at Appomattox. Original 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait photo of Philip H. Sheridan in bust-length face-forward pose wearing his U.S. Army military uniform, his right shoulder bearing his two-star Major General rank. This photograph matches other examples published by Charles DeForest Fredricks. Unsigned. Matted and framed to an overall size of 9 x 10.75. In fine condition, with light edgewear and a small stain to top edge.
