Description

French Fauvist and Expressionist painter, and printmaker in lithography and etching (1871–1958). ALS in French, one page, 4.5 x 6.25, postmarked July 22, 1922. Handwritten letter to fellow artist Andry-Farcy, in part (translated): "I have received your letter. If you want an important piece of mine, it is to Mr. Ambroise Vollard that you should address it in the fairly distant future, after which I think there will have to be a major exhibition of me in a year or two." Addressed on the reverse in Rouault's hand. In fine condition.

Ambroise Vollard was an influential French art dealer, known for providing exposure and support to then-unknown artists like Paul Cezanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso, Georges Rouault, Paul Gauguin, and Vincent van Gogh.
