ALS, one page, 6 x 8.25, July 30 (no year). Handwritten letter from Ronald Reagan, reflecting on his high school and college years, in full: “Just a line from my somewhat uncomfortable ‘in the back’ position to thank you for your very kind letter. Rock Falls & Sterling are both very familiar to me. Both were great rivals of ours when I was playing football and basketball for Dixon ‘24 - ‘28. Of course the Silas Jones’ were known to all of us who attended Eureka and they were very much loved by us. Mrs. Jones was our class advisor for four years. Thanks again for your letter.” In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder. Reagan attended Dixon High School, where he developed interests in drama and football, and, in 1928, he began attending Eureka College, where he became student body president, a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and played at the guard position for the 1930 and 1931 Eureka Red Devils football teams. The referenced Silas Jones was the longtime chairman of the religion department at Eureka.
