Description

American oilman and politician (1887–1987) who served as governor of Kansas from 1933 to 1937; the Republican Party's presidential nominee in 1936, he lost in a landslide to incumbent Franklin D. Roosevelt. Partly-printed DS, signed “Alf M. Landon,” one page, 12 x 10, January 10, 1936. As governor of Kansas, Landon appoints Glenn A. Nelson as a "Notary Public in and for the County of Miami." Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Governor Alf Landon, Secretary of State Frank J. Ryan, and Assistant Secretary of State E. E. Hill. The red seal affixed at the lower left remains intact. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds and light edge wear.
