Description

DS, signed “Elizabeth R.,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 8 x 13, July 23, 1973. Official letter to Rafael Caldera, “the President of the Republic of Venezuela,” announcing the recall of Ivo Seymour DeSouza, Jamaica’s Ambassador to Venezuela, in part: “Having need elsewhere for the services of Our Trusty and Well-beloved Mr. Ivo Seymour DeSouza, Officer of Our Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, who has for some time been accredited to You in the character of Our Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for Jamaica, We have thought fit to notify to You his Recall. We are Ourselves so satisfied with the zeal, ability, and fidelity with which Ivo Seymour DeSouza has executed Our orders on all occasions during his Mission that We trust his conduct will also have merited Your approbation, and in this pleasing confidence We avail Ourselves of the opportunity to renew to You the assurances of Our constant friendship, and of Our earnest wishes for the welfare and prosperity of the Republic of Venezuela.” Signed prominently at the conclusion in fountain pen by Queen Elizabeth II.
