Original unused and unfolded dust jacket for the first edition, first printing of The Green Hills of Earth by Robert A. Heinlein, 20.5 x 8.25, published by Shasta Publishers in 1951. The jacket features existential space-age artwork by Hubert Rogers, showing a man screaming into the void. In very fine condition. Consignor notes that this originates from the printer's vault, where two mint copies of each dust jacket were kept on file in case they had to be reprinted.
The Green Hills of Earth is a 1951 collection of science fiction short stories by Robert A. Heinlein, showcasing his mastery of storytelling and imaginative world-building. The stories, set within his 'Future History' series, explore themes such as space exploration, human resilience, and the ethical complexities of technological progress. The titular story, a touching ballad about a blind space-going songwriter's longing for Earth, epitomizes Heinlein's ability to blend emotion with speculative fiction.
