Description

Founding Father and merchant (1727–1795) who represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress and was a signer of the Articles of Confederation. Colonial Pennsylvania engraved bank note for "Twenty Shillings," 2.75 x 3.5, issued as No. 4019, and reading: "This Indented Bill of Twenty shillings, shall entitle the Bearer to receive of the Provincial Treasurer, the like Sum of Twenty Shillings, of equal Value with the same Sum, of the Bills of Credit, now by Law current…Dated March 20, 1771." Signed at the conclusion in ink by Daniel Roberdeau, and countersigned by Luke Morris and Isaac Cox. Printed in Philadelphia by David Hall and William Sellers, with reverse bearing the cautionary message: "To Counterfeit is Death." Encapsulated and graded by PMG as "Very Fine 30."
