Viennese-born actor (1896–1964) who won an Academy Award for his role in the 1937 film The Life of Emile Zola. Vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13.5 photo of the award-winning actor, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Merle – with my kindest wishes for her future! – most cordially – Joseph Schildkraut. July 16th, 1928, Hollywood.” Reverse bears a credit stamp attributing the photograph to Harold Dean Carsey. In fine condition, with faint silvering, a tiny edge tear, and trivial corner loss.
