Prolific American character actor (1892-1962) who was the first performer to win an Oscar (for his supporting role in Stagecoach), an Emmy, and a Tony. His most familiar roles are probably those of Scarlett O'Hara's father in Gone With the Wind and Uncle Billy in the classic It's a Wonderful Life. Vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13.5 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Roy Proctor, with much admiration and appreciation, Thomas Mitchell.” Reverse bears a credit stamp attributing the photograph to Columbia Pictures photographer A.
