ALS, three pages two sheets, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 24, 1926. Handwritten letter to Vernon Sherwin, regarding Florida real estate. In part: "I realize, well enough, that the arrangement is one of trust…apart from what might happen in case you should suddenly die I am in no way concerned…I have been able to sense personalities and am sure the instinct has not failed me in your case. No matter. If I was wrong I would pocket my loss & turn over a new leaf. What I really would like to do would be to sell the lot for a profit. If that is not to be done perhaps I could exchange it for some farm land that would really mean something a little later on. By such farming as I saw in the state I was very much impressed & believe that a section of farm land in the southern part—near the east or west coast below Okeechobee will be well worth having." In very fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Dreiser's own hand and incorporating his signature in the return address on the flap.
