British children's author and illustrator (1846-1901) whose distinctively illustrated books were among the most popular 'juvenile' works of the Victorian age. ALS, one page, 4 x 6, personal letterhead, February 10, 1901. Handwritten letter to a gentleman, in part: "I have read what you have written with great interest—not only because of praise of myself which is sure to be pleasant but—because I have so much sympathy with that keeping of South into age. I thank you for the bookplates. I do not myself collect them. I send you two copies of some designed by me. They are I know too pictorial—also I send you a little drawing which I hope it may interest you to possess." In fine condition.
