Marked “Personal,” a letter to German-born American composer and pianist Ernst Perabo, in full: “Your letter of the 10th inst., together with the crystal ballet box, came duly to hand. I need not assure you that your beautiful present so unique both in the emblem and the design is highly appreciated. I have also, in the name of my son and daughter, to thank you for the enjoyment they have derived from the musical arrangements you so kindly sent. Please present my kindest regards to Miss Morrill, and my cordial thanks for her most acceptable New Year's greeting. Thanking you again for the compliment of your courtesy and for the generous expressions of personal regard contained in your letter.” In very good condition, with toning, staining, and splitting along the folds.
