Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1721–1793) who was the only man to also sign the Articles of Association, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution. ADS, one page, 7.25 x 4.25, November 1783. Pay order issued to Connecticut Treasurer John Lawrence, directing him to pay "Mr. Samuel Humaston Ten pounds Sixteen Shillings on account of what is for my debenture for attending the general assembly in October 1783, out of any of the Taxes for the support of Civil government.” Signed at the conclusion by Roger Sherman. Professionally inlaid into a slightly larger sheet and in fine condition, with light haloing/staining to the ink. In 1784, Sherman was elected as mayor of New Haven (an office he held until his death) and he served as a delegate to the Continental Congress from Connecticut.
