TLS signed “Jas. J. Corbett,” one page, 8.5 x 12, personal letterhead, October 23, 1911. Letter to the "Managing Editor, The News, Providence, R.I.," in part: "I want to sell you my weekly letter on boxing for the Saturday edition of The News. This letter was until recently syndicated and featured by the Chicago Sunday Tribune. I am now offering direct to papers desiring a live feature for their sporting pages. It is not a tiresome letter of instruction in the manly art, but a bright, newsy story of current happenings in the world of fistiana.
My specialty is the news and such comment and criticism as my judgment dictates. The price per letter of about 1500 words is $7.50, where there is no time contract or agreement. By the year, $350; six months, $180…Professional boxing has been legalized in New York; other states plan to follow this lead and there is a renewed demand for live literature on the subject…If you give me an order I am sure you will be well pleased with the service." In very good to fine condition, with some unusual offset toning from some Corbett photos that must have accompanied the letter at some point.
