Italian long-distance runner (1885–1942) who finished first in the marathon at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London but was subsequently disqualified because race umpires assisted the exhausted runner several times upon his entrance into the Olympic Stadium. Vintage glossy 3.5 x 5.25 postcard photo of Dorando Pietri at the finish of the London 1908 Olympics marathon, being assisted by Dr. Michael Joseph Bulger, signed in fountain pen, "Pietri Dorando, 29 7 08," who signs again on the reverse in the same manner. In fine condition.
