Handwritten lyrics by Prince for the unreleased song ‘Unbeknownst 2 U,’ written in pencil and black ballpoint on an off-white 6.25 x 8.75 sheet of ‘purple rose’ stationery. The lyrics, unsigned, no date, read: “I finally found the stuff that’s like no other / I feel like the last sketch Picasso drew / if eye don’t do this stuff – my soul will smother / if eye don’t do what’s unbeknownst 2 u… / Who r u 2 make me feel so bothered? / 2 make me feel is as I’ve broke the rules / The butterfly in my stomach is the father / when I do what’s unbeknownst 2 u / slaves come 2 harvest my life against the grain / Images of memories lost will never cloud my brain / [eye] can move any mountain if [eye] believe it’s true.” In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds and overall creasing. The consignor notes that these lyrics were obtained from a former employee of Paisley Park.
