Vintage color 6.5 x 6.75 book photo portrait of Herbert Hoover by Yousuf Karsh, matted to an overall size of 8 x 10, signed and inscribed on the mat in black ink, "To George Meade, with the affection of Herbert Hoover.” In very good to fine condition, with toning from prior display. The recipient, George Meade, who was the great-grandson of George G. Meade, the famed Union Commander at Gettysburg, was best known for being chosen by Dwight D. Eisenhower, along with R. E. Lee IV, to command the forces at the 100th anniversary celebration at Gettysburg in 1963.
