Description

Vintage matte-finish 11.75 x 15 photo of Chevalier sitting on a wall overlooking a city, signed and inscribed in fountain pen to actress Eleanor Parker, "To Eleanor Parker and her attractive family – from a French lover of beauty – therefore an admirer, Maurice Chevalier, 1962.” Affixed to a foamcore mount and in very good to fine condition, with some light edge damage, and a tear to the center of the top edge.

Provenance: Collection of Paul Day Clemens (son of Eleanor Parker), part of Lot 49, Pop Culture Then and Now, Bonhams, December 5-15, 2023.

Eleanor Parker (1922-2013) was an American actress whose career began in the early 1940s and spanned over five decades. Perhaps best-known for her role as Baroness Elsa Schraeder in the 1965 film The Sound of Music, she was nominated for three Academy Awards for her roles in Caged (1950), Detective Story (1951), and Interrupted Melody (1955).
