Vintage matte-finish 6.75 x 10.75 Harris and Ewing portrait photo of Warren G. Harding, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, “To the newspaper crew of the Magpie from one who cherishes his connection with the fourth estate. Good wishes! Warren G. Harding." In very good to fine condition, with some light rubbing and silvering to the image. The ‘fourth estate’ refers to the press, first used by Thomas Carlyle in 1837. Harding bought the Marion Star in 1884 and owned the paper until 1923.
