Financier (1836–1892) known for his stock market manipulation of railroad securities; he also tried to corner the gold market, leading to the 'Black Friday' stock market crash of September 1869. Partly-printed DS, one page, 15.5 x 7.5, October 12, 1880. Stock certificate for 100 shares in the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway Company issued to Jay Gould, signed at the conclusion in blue ink by Jay Gould as president; also endorsed on the reverse by Gould. The receipt remains attached to the left side. Beautifully cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 35 x 22.5, with a window in the backing for viewing the opposing side. In fine condition, with a cancellation hole touching the signature.
