American physician, businessman, and financier (1820–1885) who was vice-president of the Union Pacific Railroad and created the financial structure that led to the Crédit Mobilier scandal. Partly-printed DS, signed “T. C. Durant,” one page, 9.75 x 6.5, June 12, 1855. Stock certificate for 100 shares in the Peoria & Bureau Valley Railroad Company issued to Clark Durant, signed on the affixed receipt by Thomas Clark Durant. In fine condition.
