Description

Queen's first hit single, 'Seven Seas of Rhye,' signed by the entire band

Scarce EMI Electrola (Germany) 45 RPM record for the Queen single ‘Seven Seas of Rhye / See What a Fool I've Been,’ signed on the attractive green-and-white cover in black ink, “Freddie Mercury,” “Brian May, xx, Queen, ‘83,” “John Deacon, 1983, x,” and “Roger Taylor.” In very good to fine condition, with expected light edge creasing. The record is included. Accompanied by an image of Mercury at the time of signing that clearly shows the single’s front cover, the angle of which matching with the placement of Mercury’s signature.

The original recipient notes: ‘Queen were recording The Works at The Record Plant in Los Angeles in 1983. We waited outside and the band would walk to the restaurant next door. Picture [is] of Freddie signing the single.”

Inspired by the fantasy world of Freddie Mercury and his sister, Kashmara Bulsara, when they were children, the song ‘Seven Seas of Rhye’ represents the first Queen song to ever reach an official music singles chart, reaching number 10 on the UK Singles Chart after the band performed the song on the BBC's Top of the Pops in February 1974. The single’s success ultimately persuaded Mercury to make Queen his full-time career. A significant fully signed early Queen single boasting great color and an awesome retro band image.
