Satin-finish 10 x 8 photo of Madonna as Gloria Tatlock in the 1986 film Shanghai Surprise, signed in felt tip, “Love, Madonna.” An unknown hand has added an inscription to the upper left. The consignor notes that the autograph was obtained on the London set of Shanghai Surprise during filming in 1986. In fine condition, with small tack holes to the corners.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and a letter of provenance from the daughter of the original recipient: ‘My Father John Nethersole was a Plasterer's Labourer in the film industry with a long & varied career…My father worked on ‘Shanghai Surprise’ (1986). Apparently, Madonna was so happy that the film was finishing & she could return to the States she agreed to sign some autographs for the crew. My Dad asked her to sign the photo as a gift for me. She did not enjoy making the film & was not popular with the crew.”
