Pasteur." Handsomely framed to an overall size of 13.75 x 17.25. In fine condition, with a few spots of foxing to the mount. A naval doctor best known for his work on beriberi (thiamine deficiency), Jules Rochard had been a member of the Academy of Medicine since 1875. As part of a commission appointed by the Academy of Medicine, both men conducted research on the outbreak of the plague in Russia during the 1870s. A magnificent portrait of the esteemed scientist with an outstanding association.
