The Ford's Theatre proprietor makes arrangements for a play: "I would be proud to play Miss Robertson in Baltimore and in Washington"

American theater manager (1829-1894) most famous for operating Ford's Theatre at the time of Abraham Lincoln's assassination. ALS signed “Jno. T. Ford,” one page both sides, 5 x 7.5, February 24, 1856. Handwritten letter from the "Holliday St. Theatre" in Baltimore, in part: "I would be proud to play Miss Robertson in Baltimore and in Washington also as early as the time could be arranged this Spring...Tell Mrs. Senter that I will (if she cannot come earlier) pay her the amount she makes the 1st week for her services in Washington, the 2nd week as well as her extra travelling expenses...I will not play her every night in Washington but only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Business is good but of course affected by the weather." In very good to fine condition, with overall creasing and multiple intersecting folds.
